G in GROW Model
As the weather cools down and we make our way indoors, we thought we would take this month on a deep dive of the GROW Model developed for setting and implementing our goals. If you have never heard of it before, a good way of thinking about the GROW Model is to think about how you’d plan a journey…
First, you decide where you are going (the goal), and establish where you currently are (your current reality). Then you explore various routes (the options) to your destination. And lastly, you establish your will and ensure that you are committed and are prepared for the obstacles that you could meet on the way.The GROW model offers a strategy to keep going and find ways around the challenges.Let’s explore it together…
This Week’s Garden:
- Meet Maddy, our new Studio Support
- What is in the pose Cobra Pose?
- Space of the Week … Meet our Float Room 1
- Upcoming Event May and June – First: Yoga Foundation for Beginners (Part II) – Visit May / June Events
- Weekly Sprout — G for setting Goals kicking off our first GROW Model
- In the Shed – Our Last Sound Bath

Our Weekly sprout — Goal Setting
Taking the time and setting goals is typically a fun, explorative exercise where we can dream about the life we want to have and the people we want to become! Are we a marathon finisher? A book reader? A veggie garden growing savant? A blissful meditator?
This is where we dream of possibilities and imagine ourselves as we try on habits or milestones. Goals are our anchors for hope. The more we align our goals to our values, the more engaged we are with them and more likely we are to achieving them.
For example, If my goal is to run a Marathon in 2024, but I don’t like exercise. Fitness is not one of my values and I most likely won’t be running 40kms next year!
When setting your goals, make sure to be as detailed as possible. Picture yourself during the day; working towards your goal.
What does it look like? Where are you? What are you wearing? How are you feeling in that moment?
Also think about these questions:
Is this goal realistic in this timeframe? Do I need more or less time?
Is this goal too big? Or should I dream bigger?
How does this goal fit into my day to day life?
How will I know I have completed this goal?
Why is this goal important to me?
That last one is arguably one of the most important questions and often under valued – so spend a lot of TIME ruminating on:
Why is this goal important to you?
What values do you have that align with this goal?
Are you doing it for yourself or for others?
How will it transform or change you for the better?
Implementing our goals takes plenty of time and effort outside of our regular daily life so it is crucial we completely understand WHY we are taking on a new challenge. If we know why it is so important, we are more likely to rise to the challenge when the REALITY of life sets in…

MEET MADDY …

Meet Maddy as she joins us for almost 1 month now, doing her best to immerse herself within Liquid Room and bringing with her a wealth of experiences she had learned through her previous role as a studio support in a different float centre. Please welcome her into our community.
Some fun facts about Maddy below …
Q: Is it better to be a big fish in a small pond? Or a small fish in a big pond?
A small fish in a big pond!
Q: If you were trapped in a movie? What would it be and who would you be?
I would be a Hobbit in Lord of the rings living my most abundant life in peace.
What is in the pose – Cobra Pose
Cobra pose is often used within a sun salutation or vinyasa as a transitional pose in a collection of asanas, and is considered a moderate back bend that can help prepare the spine for more advanced back bends.
This pose is also an excellent counter stretch to relieve muscles that are hunched or curled over from working at a desk or using mobile devices for many hours during the day.

Space of the Week – Float Room 1 …

Hey there, I’m Float Room 1 – nice to meet you! My sister-rooms and I were the FIRST ever Float ROOMS to be installed in Australia. People have loved how spacious we are compared to pods! I have over 500kg of naturally sourced Epsom salts in me for the most weightless and heavenly experiences.
Did you know that at one point, I was nearly named “The Dead Sea” after one of the saltiest oceans in the world instead of “Float Room 1”?
What do you think? Should I ask for a name change?
